Things are growing!

There are a lot of things growing in my life.  My girls are growing faster than I can even believe and have become more like little girls than babies now.  The amount of clutter in my house has certainly grown!  (That is my next project!  Will post more on that another day!) But, not only that, when I have stopped and looked around this past week, I have seen that a lot of things around me are growing in one way or another.

My NIP (novel in progress) has grown an awesome amount in the past week.  I wrote 12,000 words!  This is the farthest I have ever gotten on a book since I normally got back and start criticizing myself.  This time, I have vowed not to even read any of what I have written until the entire thing is done!  What did my chosen genre end up being that inspired this flurry of activity, romance, of course!  I am totally enjoying the process more now that I have realized I am not an outliner.  I am a fly by the seat of my pants kind of gal.  The characters are telling me where to go and I am adoring them!

My garden is growing.  We have already gotten a few peppers this summer, but look at what we have coming in now!

And last, but certainly not least, my collection of these fun little African Flowers are growing for a fun, fun project I’m making! I am going to leave it a secret for now, but will post more as it comes together!

Cute crafty finishes…

I had a busy weekend with a couple of cookouts and the girls spending lots of time in the pool, but I still made time for doing a couple of crafty things! My Playfood Project is moving along, with two new finishes! I crocheted some adorable little apple slices and made a slice of toast out of my new Little Chef Plastic Canvas book I bought from Annie’s Attic. (I can’t even go onto that site to link here without finding something to add to my wish list!) I am in love with that book! I managed to get pictures before they disappeared into the toy jungle, never to be seen again!

Yum! A couple of apple slices.

I received a gift card for my birthday and since I am on a big yarn diet, I stayed strong and did not purchase yarn. I purchased a couple of cross stitch kits from Herrshner’s instead. Even with Geek Noosphere in full swing and me needing to finish up my scoring projects for that, I couldn’t resist starting on one of these gems!

I love this sweet little flower!

I hope you all enjoy my finished projects as much as I do!

Apple-ish Playfood…

Well, one of my goals for 2014 is to make my girls a set of play food. I have an awesome book called <a href="Tasty Crochet: A Pantry Full of Patterns for 33 Tasty Treats“> with a ton of fun food patterns. I plan to make them a couple of everything, and started with the apple. Now, my apple came out a lot more rounded than I would have liked and no amount of squishing that filling was putting it in the proper shape. Upon reviewing the directions, I found what I had done wrong. It was a matter of how I sewed the stem on, so easy fix, I may go back one day and redo that part. Until then, my 2 and 3 year olds easily identified the fruit for what it was, so it is good enough for me. And here it is, the first of many handmade play foods I will share with you, my apple-ish…

It's more round than it should be, but still fun for the girls!
