It was another busy weekend for us. I am beginning to think there are no other kind! I had to work Saturday, so that makes for a one day weekend which goes by extremely fast when you are trying to fit in all the housework and spending time with the kiddos!
I made some really good progress on the dress I’m currently working on. I am at the point of endless rounds to get to the final length, which for me always seems like the longest part. I find I measure almost every round to see if I’m there yet, even though I know its not.
I was all set to finish up the first of the two bunnies I am making for the girls for Easter when I ran out of yarn halfway through the second leg. I have to run out at lunch and buy more today. An entire skein of yarn for one leg. Luckily its brown so I know I’ll find plenty of other uses for it. I started on the second bunny since I couldn’t work on that one anymore. I have decided to make their dresses in my Bernat Baby Jaquard and think they will turn out so cute!
I didn’t get any good pictures of my WIPs for today, so instead I will share my package of fabric goodies. I got my order! These will all become skirts and shorts for the girls. I can’t wait to dive in!
Such pretty fabrics!
I hope you all had a great weekend and have a happy, hectic, handmade day!
Just a quick post to show a little updated progress on one of my current WIPs. I have been working on this cross stitch for what seems like ages, and I am so pleased with how it is coming along. I ordered two more and that gave me motivation to work on this one so I can also do the new ones!
This is by far the biggest cross stitch I have ever tackled!
Cross stitch normally takes a back burner to the other crafts as it is the one that is my truly selfish work. Everything I cross stitch is for me, me, me! The plan at the moment is to have these beautiful flowered works of art hanging in my living room. It would certainly help if I did not already loose the last one I finished. I was going to take it to have it framed, but guess what, it is no where to be found! That was a month ago and what really made me realize that the clutter was overwhelming. I still haven’t gotten to work much on the decluttering, but hopefully will find my last beauty when I finally do.
I believe I have a final list ready for the girls’ wardrobes of what I plan to make and buy, so tune in tomorrow for that post!
Have a happy hectic handmade day!
I am still working away on the girls summer wardrobes. At the moment I am working on an Early Girl Dress and I am in love with this pattern! I purchased this pattern at least two years ago and never made it. This was before I really got to understand the differences in yarn materials and knew that a dress crocheted in acrylic would be much too hot for my daughters in our sweltering, southern heat. Thanks to Ravelry, I now know that there are a multitude of fibers out there that are perfectly suited for wearables for the Gulf Coast Summer. I am currently playing with Knit Picks Cotlin and I have to say, it has quickly become a favorite work horse for me. It creates a nice fabric, is cool enough, and best of all, machine washable! My 4 year old has decided that right now her favorite color is pink, so here is her Early Girl Dress so far…
Such a nice, soft color
Its a bit overcast, so the picture isn’t doing the color total justice. I am hoping to have this and another one of these done in time for them to wear them on Easter, but I know they will become favorites for the warmer months ahead!
Hope you have a happy, hectic, handmade day!
